Podi is a small village in the district of Herceg Novi. At the 2011 census, the population was only 1.200. Landscaped and quiet area. Located on a hill, Herceg Novi is a fairly quiet coastal town. It is also called the“ green ” city or the Botanical garden of Montenegro, as it is home to about a hundred species of Mediterranean and subtropical plants. There is another name— ‘city of stairs’. The date of Foundation of the city is considered to be 1382, when the king of Bosnia Stepan Tvrtko I ordered to build a fortress in the Bay of Kotor. Then they started selling salt here and the place got the status of a city. Since 1482, the city has changed hands many times. In different periods, the city was owned by the Turks, Spaniards, Venetians, Austrians, and French. The city of Herceg Novi became a part of Montenegro in 1814.
